I came across this video and I felt like sharing it because it shows how obsessed we have been with cell phones and social medias. It is disgusting the way we’ve been documenting every step we take. If we go to a restaurant we take photos of the delicious dish we are served. Delicious? Do we really stop looking at the screen to taste it? Do we give our brain the time it needs to process the flavors, the textures and the temperature of the dish? And even worst, do we pay attention to the people around us at the table?
Guys it is a shame!
We are acting like shallow beings. We want so desperately to show our existence to the world that we forget that, actually, there is nobody looking. Why would I be interested in your food, your body, your comments, your possessions, if I have my own stuff to show off? Can you realize how ridiculous it is? We are uploading terabytes of useless information daily. Useless for us, but really worthy for big companies which are making zillions of money with our futility. Is that what we want? Do we want to be the shallow product of those companies? What do we get in turn? A few likes and, even fewer, comments from people you have never seen in your life, and probably will never see. And while we are there, distracted from our reality, our kids are growing alone and lonely, our marriages are getting cold, our relatives are being left apart.
Come on, guys! There is still time to reevaluate our Internet behavior. We definitely don’t need to be that shallow! At least, I DON’T!
Please, watch and think!
By the way, here’s a good book to help you rethink your online behaviour:
