Tesla’s Batteries and Gabriela’s Schrödinger Cat

This week I came across two wonderful pieces of news. One was the launching of the Tesla Batteries, last Wednesday, April 29th and the other was an interview with Gabriela Barreto Lemos, a Brazilian doctor in Quantum Physics that is working in Vienna. The interview is in the 346th edition, May 2015 of the Brazilian magazine SUPERINTERESSANTE.

Gabriela created “a ghost” by manipulating photons. You can see some more information about the experiment here. You should understand a bit of the last discoveries into Quantum Physics in order to get what I mean in this text, so if you don´t have a clue of what it is all about I suggest you read this first: quantum entanglement.

Ok. So what does Tesla batteries have to do with Gabriela´s experiment? Well, if you click on the link above and watch the video of the launching, you will see that Elon Musk refers to sun power as a limited source of energy because the sun doesn’t shine at night. Therefore, the battery panels have a limited amount of hours to store energy which comes from it. That was exactly the point at which I thought to myself: Com’on, there might be a way to overcome that limitation. Although we can´t make the sun shine 24 hours in the same place because of the rotation of the planet, we know that the sun is always shining somewhere on the other side of the globe, right? That´s where Gabriela’s experiment enters. Of course, I don´t know how it could be done, I am not a scientist, but follow me: when an entangled photon is divided its parts behave as clones, right? No matter how far they are from each other, they will act exactly the same way, as far as I understood of everything I read about it so far. Supposing it is really so, if you split an entangled photon (or something else that you could store energy) that is capable of storing sun energy somehow (I told you, I am a layperson and I might be saying a bunch of bullshit here, in this case, I would really appreciate your explanation of why it is not possible) and you place one particle in Japan and the other in Brazil and vise-versa, no matter if it is day or night, there will always be energy being stored because the energy captured in Japan during the day would be present in Brasil during the night and vise-versa again. And if it is spread all over the world the storage of energy would be infinite!

Oh.. the possibilities…I hope I could make myself understood. I would love to hear from an expert on energy storage or a quantum physics specialist on that.
